Renowned Kannada actor Sudeep Sanjeev announced on Wednesday that he will campaign for the BJP in the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections. Sudeep Sanjeev is also known as Kichha Sudeep. He said, "I will only campaign and not contest the election."

Speaking at a press conference along with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Sudeep said that he shares a deep personal bond with Chief Minister Bommai. He said that, out of respect for the CM, he would campaign for the BJP. Sudeep also said that Chief Minister Bommai had helped him on a personal level many times in his life. Vikrant Rona Star said, "This is how I am showing my gratitude. I am here today for him and not for the party." Sudeep said that he has told the CM that he does not want to contest the elections. Sudeep said, "I have told him that I have come here to campaign for the BJP for his sake." He said that I was not entering politics or contesting elections.

In the press conference, Chief Minister Basavarao Bommai said that everyone knows that Sudeep is his friend. Thereafter, Kiccha said that he always used to call the Chief Minister Mama. So when they called me, it was my duty to come here. Sudeep's remarks came at a time when speculation was rife that he might join the BJP ahead of next month's assembly elections. However, he has refused to join the party. CM Bommai himself said that actor Sudeep does not belong to any political party. They have come to support him and his party. Actor Sudeep will campaign for the BJP in the Karnataka assembly elections.
