The historical clock tower located at Lal Chowk in the summer capital of Srinagar is not going to be demolished. Only to be renovated. This position has been clarified by Athar Amir Khan, CEO of Srinagar Smart City Limited and Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, who denies the reports of the demolition of the clock tower.

He has spoken about it and said that it is not going to be completely demolished. Its roof was damaged, and there was some damage to the outside as well. The work of restoration and renovation of the clock tower is going to be done. After fixing the roof, there will be some increase in its height. A little traditional work will also be done in this chapter. The rumours about breaking it are baseless and wrong.

On the appeal to speed up the ongoing construction works in the city under the Srinagar Smart City Project, said that efforts are being made to complete this work in the month of May. Keeping in view the difficulties faced by the people, work is also being done in double shift. The holy month of Ramzan continues, but the work starts only after Sehri in the morning. All efforts are being made to complete it soon so a good, smart city can be given to the people.

Reports say that the leaders of trade chambers have spoken about the fact that shops are on the verge of closure and are not so optimistic about the revival of trade. He says that we supported the government and cooperated in every way. We want the construction work to be expedited without losing any time limit. The business has been badly affected. This year, 70 percent of the business has been affected. It seems that the construction work in Srinagar city will go on beyond June and July, and till then the business community may have to worry.
