Recently actor Shekhar Suman has resorted to legal proceedings against writer, director and producer Saif Haider Hasan for recording a meeting. He has claimed that no consent was taken from him for this recording of the latter, nor did he know about the recording. He has also mentioned the ticket portal Book My Show in his legal notice. He sent a notice on 26 June.

According to the information received, Suman and Hassan collaborated together for a meeting in 2014 and for this they visited Dubai, Singapore, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Indore and New Delhi. Deepti Naval was also in it and actor advocate Ajatshatru Singh has sent a notice through post at the registered place of Hassan. There is a violation of copyright infringement and violation of intellectual property rights, distribution of a meeting on any digital platform without mutual consent. Further, the notice states that at the time of signing of the agreement, there was talk of both the actors for the play being broadcast exclusively in theaters, not webcasts and broadcasts.

The actor recently talked about this, saying, "I will not allow any party to endanger their career. The director had recorded the entire play without my consent and knowledge". He went on and said, "furthermore it is a gross violation of the rights of the artists under Section 38A of the Copyright Act, 1957, because I have instructed the director to record his work. It is not authorized to store and webcast, nor is there any written agreement in this regard."
