Adar Poonawala said that the vaccine shows a 60-70 percent effectiveness when given within a month gap. He told that a study was done on about one thousand people, in which they were given both doses of vaccine. During this period, a gap of 2-3 months was kept between the two doses. The results of this research revealed that if the vaccine dose is given to the people at intervals of 2-3 months, then its effectiveness will increase by 90 percent.

Poonawala further said that if you look at other vaccines too, then a very long gap is given between the two doses. The longer the gap between vaccine shots is given, the better the effect of vaccination will have on the people. Let me tell you that last month, on the recommendation of the National Expert Group, the government had decided to increase the gap between the first and second doses of vaccine by eight weeks.
