Adityanath govt considering 'one district, one sport' scheme now in UP

LUCKNOW: The Yogi Adityanath government is preparing to launch a 'One District One Sport' scheme to promote sports, After the stupendous success of the 'One District One Product' (ODOP) scheme.

The sports department has been instructed to draught a blueprint for the scheme and identify popular sports for each area, according to government sources.

'Through this new initiative, the chief minister aims to promote indigenous sports.' For districts located on the banks of large rivers, water sports will be a vital aspect of the plan. The goal is to encourage youth to participate in sports while also honing their talents, said a sports department representative.

According to sources, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is enthusiastic for young Uttar Pradesh athletes to build a name for themselves at the national and international levels.

He was also interested in reviving indigenous sports that were dwindling in popularity.
