Bollywood singer Adnan Sami is very famous and millions of people are crazy about his voice. But these days he is in trouble. According to the information, Adnan's property in Mumbai has been saved from being seized. In fact, Tribunal of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) has imposed a fine of Rs 50 lakh for violating the rules on Adnan. Adnan Sami has been given three months time to pay the fine. According to the report, this order to pay the fine was issued on 12 September.
According to media reports, Adnan Sami bought 8 flats and 5 parking spaces in Mumbai in the year 2003. But at that time he was a Pakistani citizen. According to Indian rules, if any citizen of Pakistan invests in India or buys property, then he has to inform the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Sami did not give any information to RBI before buying the flat. Because of this, he is dealing with this problem.
After this property deal, a case was registered against Adnan Sami. In 2010, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on Sami and ordered forfeiture of the property. Sami appealed to the Appellate Tribunal Court against the verdict. After which the court, while giving the verdict on September 12, has increased the amount of fine from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Adnan Sami has got Indian citizenship in 2016.
The court said that Adnan Sami had bought this property while living and working in India. The property was bought in Indian currency. Sami has also taken the loan on this. He also, file income tax. Due to this, his property can not be seized, but he has to pay 50 lakh rupees as fine, in three months. Sami has already deposited Rs 10 lakh in this case.
