Bangladesh: In a women's ODI between India and Bangladesh last week, controversy broke out when Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur lost her cool after an umpire's decision against her.
When Harmanpreet attempted a sweep shot against Nadia Akter, the ball appeared to miss the willow and hit the batter on her pad.
Following confident pleas from Bangladesh bowlers, the umpire declared Harmanpreet out; nevertheless, the Indian captain got angry and proceeded to hit the stumps in protest.

She also argued with the umpires as she made her way back to the pavilion. The tournament ultimately concluded in a stalemate with the two sides splitting the trophy after a 1-1 series score, and India captain Harmanpreet expressed her unhappiness in the umpiring standards during the post-match presentation.
She referred to the umpiring as "pathetic," and she even went so far as to imply that the Indian team will prepare especially for the umpiring the next time it traveled to Bangladesh.
It was further alleged that she requested Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana to call the umpires in the team photos as well, which was a remark that naturally both Sultana and the Bangladesh players found offensive.

Harmanpreet was fined 50 per cent of her match fee for the Level 2 offence, relating to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision,” and received three demerit points on her disciplinary record. She was also fined 25 per cent of her match fee for a Level 1 offence relating to “public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match.”
Shahid Afridi, a former Pakistani captain, voiced his disgust in Harmanpreet's behavior but stated that players often behave in such ways when under pressure. However, Afridi noted that such conduct isn't frequently seen in women's cricket.
“This is not just India. We've seen these things in the past as well. Although, we don't see this often in women's cricket. This was way too much, it was a big event under ICC. With the punishment, you set an example for the future. You can get aggressive on cricket; controlled aggression is good, but this was a bit too much,” Afridi told.
The Indian captain racked up four demerit points, which translate into a two-match suspension for international competition. Harmanpreet might miss the first two games of the major event in Hangzhou because there are currently no series scheduled for the team before the Asian Games in September.
