Talking to the Pakistani media, Shahid Afridi has said that till date I have not understood that the role of politicians is to progress the country. Why can't our country become sustainable? Looking at the condition of this country, my children ask, 'Papa, what is happening in the country?' Afridi further said that 'how long will we keep fighting with each other. We ourselves are enemies of this country. Pakistani army has made great sacrifices for this country. Why don't politicians accept this? If there is no army of Pakistan then what is freedom, ask the Palestinians, ask the Kashmiris. We have to stand with the army.'
He said, 'If there is oppression on anyone, I will definitely speak for him. He said that I have talked about the situation in Kashmir from the beginning. Praising Yasin Malik, Afridi said, 'India constantly tries to suppress the voice of those who criticize against human rights abuses. They cannot reduce the efforts of Yasin Malik. Let us tell you that last year also Afridi had made a poisonous tweet on Kashmir. He often spews venom against India and gives statements in support of his army. Yasin Malik, whom he has now praised, is a terrorist, who has killed many people and has confessed on TV about the murder of 4 Indian Air Force officers. However, even after this former PM Manmohan Singh had invited Yasin Malik to the Prime Minister's residence and met him warmly, now the Modi government has jailed him.
