September 7, 1936 was the last day of the Tasmanian tiger or Thylacine, named Benjamin. After its death, the Tasmanian Tiger has been declared extinct. But this striped and carnivorous creature, which has become extinct, is probably going to get a new lease of life soon.

According to media reports, scientists at the University of Melbourne in Australia have donated $3.6 million to build a lab called Thelacin Integrated Genetic Restoration Research (TIGRR). After the creation of this lab, scientists are going to try to bring this extinct tiger to the world once again.

About 3,000 years ago, the Thylacines were spread all over Australia, but disappeared because of hunting and encounters with dingoes. But in Tasmania, only one population of Thylacine remains. But then people called him the "killer of the sheep.". Because of this, the government has also given a reward of 1 pound on every animal. In such a situation, the thylacine became extinct. Science is going to bring them back. In 2018, the team of Professor Andrew Pask also published the first genome sequence of a thylacine. For this, he used DNA from a sample stored at the Melbourne Museum for the past 100 years. Previously, draft assembly of the genome was incomplete. However, for thylacine now, better DNA assembly and higher-quality genomes from the corresponding living species will be measured on the new chromosome-scale.

The team is currently trying to improve the genome by sequencing several more samples to determine the variation of species. Then it is going to be compared to the nearest Dunnart Marsupial, a rat-shaped animal with large black ink eyes. This comparison will determine the changes and scope required to form a marsupial cell such as thylacine.
