New York City Mayor Eric Adams condemned the incident and vowed to protect the community. He continued by saying, 'Jasmer Singh loved New York City and deserved much more than his tragic death. On behalf of all New Yorkers, I want our Sikh community to know that our hearts go out to you too. We reject the hatred that took this innocent life and we are going to protect you.

This is the whole matter: Reports say that the car of Augustin, a Sikh of Indian origin, collided with each other. The cars suffered scratches due to the accident. Augustine became furious at this. When Singh tried to call 911, she snatched the phone. Singh started following Augustin to get his phone. An argument started between the two on this. Singh went back to his car after collecting his phone from Augustin. On this the accused also punched the Sikh thrice on his head and face. Singh fell on the ground and injured his head. After this Augustin fled from the scene. Singh was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he died from head injuries. Police took Augustin into custody Friday, about two miles from the crash site.
