Sources say that from Shimla to other districts of the state, there have been alleged illegal sale of liquor from closed contracts and godowns. During this period, customers have been provided liquor secretly by charging up to three times the print rate. The state government, the Center has also clearly stated in its order to completely ban the sale of liquor. It is believed that if the sale of liquor is confirmed, then the contract or warehouse in-charge can be acted upon.

The revenue of liquor in Himachal is Rs 18 hundred crores annually. Every day the revenue of around five crores has been on a break since the announcement of the lockdown of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since the lockdown, the government has lost about 300 million rupees due to the sale of liquor. Officials say that if the lockdown continues further and there is no sale, it will be impossible to meet this loss of revenue.
