The Weeknd lost his voice a few songs into the second of his two sold-out performances on Saturday at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium, and he abruptly ended the performance.

The Weeknd was performing "Can't Feel My Face" when he suddenly lost his voice, halted, and then emerged from the stage to inform the audience: “I can’t give you the concert I want to give you. I’m going to make sure everyone’s good, get your money back, and I’ll do a show real soon for you guys, but I wanted to come out and personally apologize and not tweet it or Instagram it. I wanted you guys to know that I can’t give you what I want to give you. I apologize. I’m so sorry.”

The visibly upset superstar then stood on the stage while the crowd cheered before adding, “You know how much this kills me. I love you. Thank you so much.” He quickly posted to Twitter following his exit from the stage, writing, “My voice went out during the first song and I’m devastated. Felt it go and my heart dropped.” He then vowed once more to return with a new time. The Weeknd's "Save Your Tears," which peaked at number one on the 2021 Billboard Hot 100, was sung in unison as the crowd left SoFi Stadium.

After delaying his 2020 tour into 2021 and then again due to the pandemic, The Weeknd was originally scheduled to resume touring in January 2022. However, the musician then cancelled the 2022 arena tour in order to transfer the performance to stadiums.

The stadium tour then had a difficult beginning when it began in July. Due to a Rogers cellular network disruption, the July 8 debut date in his hometown of Toronto had to be changed. The 18-date tour, however, had gone without a hitch up until Saturday, the outing's final night. Now, it's anticipated that the trip will continue across Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The Idol, an HBO series that The Weeknd is developing, co-writing, and starring in, is another project on his already-hectic schedule. The six-part television series centres on a young pop star (Lily-Rose Depp), who develops feelings for a cult leader (The Weeknd). At his performance on July 16 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, he gave a sneak peek of the series teaser.
