Hyderabad: The ongoing protests against the new scheme of recruitment in the Indian Army, Agneepath, have started proving to be deadly. A large number of youths had arrived at secunderabad railway station in Telangana since morning and were opposing the Agneepath scheme. During this time, some anti-social elements set the train on fire and vandalised it.

Even these miscreants pelted stones at the police and the security forces had to resort to aerial firing to control them. One youth has reportedly been killed in police firing, while eight people were badly injured. The injured have been admitted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad. Hundreds of youths had arrived at the main railway station in Telangana city and were vandalizing. There was also arson in a train.

Has the government raised the age limit?

Let us know that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre has made a big announcement on Thursday night (June 16, 2022) regarding the Agneepath scheme. The Central Government has increased the maximum age limit for recruitment of Agniveers to 23 years. The age limit for the scheme has been fixed at 17 to 21 years, but the Defence Ministry has partially revised it to reduce the upper age limit to 23 years for the first time. That is, the youth will get this benefit of two-year relaxation in maximum age service only in the first year. It is worth noting that due to the situation created by the Corona global epidemic, the recruitment in the army was stalled for two years.
