New Delhi: Lieutenant General Anil Puri, Additional Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, gave a press conference on the Agnipath scheme and informed about the review meeting. He said that this reform was pending for a long time. With this reform, we want to bring a good mix of youth and experience to the three services of the country. Today, in big statistics, the soldiers are in their 30s and the officers are getting command much later than before. Reducing the age of the armies is our priority. We want that there should be a good mix of consciousness and enthusiasm between the three armies of India.

Lt Gen Arun Puri said that every year about 17,600 people are taking premature retirement from the three services. No one ever attempted to ask them what they would do after retirement. The 'Agniveers' will get the same allowance on posting in Siachen and other areas as is applicable to regular soldiers currently serving. There will be no favouritism for Agniveers in the service conditions. In the next 4-5 years, we will recruit 50-60,000 (soldiers) and later it will increase from 90,000 to 100,000. At the same time, he also clarified that there is a dire need for this scheme of the Indian Armed Forces, so there is no question of withdrawing it. In future, all the recruitments below the rank of officers in the three services will be through the 'Agnipath Scheme.'

At the same time, the Army has ruled out any possibility of withdrawing the Agnipath scheme. The Army said in a joint statement that the Agnipath scheme will not be returned. In a significant statement, the Army said that coaching institutes are instigating and inciting students. Le. h. Anil Puri said that they should not take part in violence and demonstrations. At the same time, he also said that if the name comes in the FIR, Agniveer will not be able to become.
