IPL Mega Auction: Ahmed, Sakariya bought by Delhi while Unadkat picked by Mumbai

On a day when left-arm pacers were in high demand, Delhi Capitals grabbed Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakariya in the second round of the current IPL Mega Auction here on Sunday, while Mumbai Indians finally got their first selection in Jaydev Unadkat.

Ahmed, who last played for India in 2019, has piqued Delhi and Mumbai's interest. However, Mumbai dropped it's own bid, and Delhi snatched him up for INR 5.25 crores. Ahmed was reunited with Delhi, his first IPL team from 2016 to 2017. After then, Delhi snatched Chetan Sakariya from Bangalore and Rajasthan for INR 4.2 crores.

Navdeep Saini, a speedster from Mumbai, was available for auction, but he was up against competition from Lucknow and Rajasthan. Rajasthan eventually acquired him for INR 2.6 crores. Mumbai eventually grabbed their first signing of the day when they signed Jaydev Unadkat for INR 1.3 crores, knocking off an offer from Chennai.

Mayank Markande, a leg-spinner, was immediately signed for INR 65 lakh, bringing them back together after 2018 and 2019. Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore fought hard for Sri Lankan all-rounder Dushmantha Chameera. However, Lucknow was able to secure him for INR 2 crores when Bangalore fell short. Sandeep Sharma, an Indian pacer, moved to Punjab for a base fee of INR 50 lakh.

Lucknow paid INR 50 lakh for left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, while Chennai paid INR 70 lakh for excellent Sri Lanka off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana. Rinku Singh of Uttar Pradesh was sought by Lucknow, but he was brought back by Kolkata for INR 55 lakh. However, they were able to secure Manan Vohra for INR 20 lakh.
