Amid the ongoing heavy rains in Gujarat, the Ahmedabad Airport has issued a travel advisory, urging passengers to prepare for potential flight delays and check their flight schedules. The advisory comes after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted severe rainfall and issued a red alert for August 27.

The airport shared the update on a social media platform, advising travelers to check their flight status with the airlines and allow extra time for check-in at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport. Airport authorities assured that teams are working continuously to ensure a smooth travel experience and encouraged passengers to stay safe and plan ahead.

In response to the adverse weather conditions, an airline issued a separate travel advisory late Monday night. Waterlogging at multiple locations has disrupted flight operations, prompting passengers to verify flight details before traveling. The airline mentioned that heavy rains in Ahmedabad and Rajkot have also affected road access to the airport, causing further delays. Dedicated airline staff and teams are actively assisting travelers during these challenging circumstances.

Additionally, heavy rainfall has impacted train services, with Western Railways canceling or diverting several trains due to the flood-like conditions. Traffic disruptions have also been reported across the state as water continues to accumulate in various regions. The Meteorological Department predicts more heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the next two to three days.

To manage the situation, Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level meeting at the State Emergency Operation Center in Gandhinagar on Monday. Authorities have evacuated 17,827 people and rescued 1,653 others from affected areas. Emergency teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed to carry out rescue and relief operations across the impacted districts.
