COVID19 cases may continue to increase in 2021: AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria

New Delhi: The entire world is struggling badly with the Corona pandemic. Many countries are engaged in finding the vaccine. Even in India, the cases of coronavirus growing rapidly. On Friday, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed 4 million. More than 31 lakh corona infected patients have also been recovered.

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, 68,472 corona patients have died so far. Meanwhile, a statement by Dr Randeep Guleria, Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has raised concerns of both the government and the public. He has said "We can't say that the pandemic will not spillover to 2021 but what we can say is that the curve will be flatter instead of rising very steeply. We should be able to say the pandemic is ending early next year".

Dr Guleria is the main member of the Central Government's Special Task Force on Corona. He said that the number of corona cases in India will start increasing for a few more months. Guleria said, "Many people who were very strict in terms of complying with the COVID safety measures in the initial phases, now seem to hold the view that enough is enough."
