New Delhi: The fast-growing Omicron variant in the country has started disappoint people. People are now afraid of this infection. There are many who are fearing it to be more dangerous. However, AIIMS professor Dr. Puneet Mishra says that is quite the opposite. In fact, he says that omicron's transmissibility is much higher than that of the delta, but it will not be as serious as delta. Not only that, but he also said that the situation will not get as bad as it was during the second wave.

On the possibility of a threat of omicron variant, Dr. Puneet Mishra, Professor, AIIMS, Delhi, said last Saturday, "The transmissibility of omicron is much higher than Delta variant, but it will not be as serious as delta. He also said, "Due to the ability of the new strain to have high transmissivity, the cases of infection may increase considerably, but the situation will not get as bad as it was during the second wave. People don't have to panic about it, but covid needs to be treated appropriately. Further, in AIIMS, Professor of Community Medicine Mishra also said, "I don't see anything like the second wave, but the ability to have high transmissivity can lead to a large number of cases.”

You must all know that during the second wave earlier this year, the number of corona-infected people in the country's hospitals had increased very fast as many patients were facing breathing problems, which required them oxygen. During that time, the demand for oxygen had increased considerably due to the increasing number of patients and people who died due to lack of oxygen in many places.
