The Air France-KLM Group said on Monday that regular India flights will increase from 20 per week in April to 30 per week in May.
After a two-year break caused by the coronavirus pandemic, regular international flights resumed on Sunday. Under bilateral air bubble agreements, limited international passenger flights have operated between India and a few countries in the previous two years, notably France and the Netherlands.
"Following the resumption, Air France and KLM will gradually enhance flight operations from India, beginning with 20 weekly flights in April and increasing to 30 weekly flights in May," according to a statement released by the group. Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai will be served by Air France, while Delhi and Mumbai will be served by KLM.
"India is a crucial market for Air France and KLM, and owing to a strong VFR (visiting friends and relatives) segment and inbound tourism, we foresee a swift recovery that should support the industry," said Jean-Noel Rault, Air France-KLM General Manager Indian Subcontinent. "We will keep a close eye on the market as we plan to ramp up our pre-pandemic activity in the summer of 2022," Rault added.
