New Delhi: Employees union has taken a tough stance on the decision to give leave without pay to the employees of the Air India for 5 years. The union has made several serious allegations by writing a letter to the CMD of Air India. The Air India Employees Union (AIEU) has written a letter to the CMD in a strict tone about this issue. The union says that the board of directors has approved the leave without pay scheme, but they have not been exposed to the ground reality and kept in the dark.

It is worth mentioning that in a letter sent to the employees on 14 July by Air India, it was said that, 'Employees can opt for leave from six months to 2 years without salary and this can be extended to 5 years. In this scheme, CMD has the right to issue an order in the name of the company and send it to an employee on leave for six months or two years (which can be increased to 5 years).

The union has said that, 'We want to say in clear terms that the said letter is completely heartless, unconstitutional, illegal, arbitrary and unilateral. This is a betrayal of all types of labor laws and is a violation of the Bombay High Court's order on petition number 1606 of 2013 and the apex court order thereafter.
