Dehradun: In Uttarakhand, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and the party's CM face during the elections, Colonel Ajay Kothiyal has resigned from the party's membership in a shocking decision on Wednesday (May 18, 2022). He announced his resignation publicly on Twitter, saying he was taking this step keeping in mind the sentiments of ex-servicemen, elderly, women, youth and intellectuals.
Posting his resignation from AAP on Twitter, Col Kothiyal wrote, "Keeping in mind the sentiments of ex-servicemen, ex-paramilitary, elderly, women, youth and intellectuals, I am today on 18th May 2022, from the membership of Aam Aadmi Party. I am giving my resignation.'' It is worth noting that Col Kothiyal joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in April last year in view of the assembly elections to be held this year.
Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is the district where a large population of ex-servicemen reside. In view of this, with the intention of strengthening his political ground, Arvind Kejriwal had declared Kothiyal as the CM's face. The AAP had believed in the credentials of Kothiyal's military service besides promising to provide 300 units of free power if voted to power. In fact, Kothiyal's career had been excellent while in the Army, including his name Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Vishisht Seva Medal and Parakram Medal.
