Ajay Kumar Bhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He is the influential bureaucrat home secretary of the Government of India and through his work, he has achieved many things. Today, he has got another achievement to become an influential Indian. In fact, recently, Fame India magazine released a list of influential Indians and he have made it to 29th place in this list. Ajay Kumar Bhalla is a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam Meghalaya cadre.

He has got the post of new Home Secretary on 22 August 2019. Ajay Kumar Bhalla is a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre and was working as the Energy Secretary of the Central Government before being made an OSD in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Ajay Kumar Bhalla has done MSc with Botany, from Delhi University. He is an MBA from the Queensland University of Australia.

Apart from this, he has also done MPhil in Sociology from Punjab University, Chandigarh. During his tenure as IAS, Ajay Kumar Bhalla has also served in various important positions in Assam and Meghalaya and the Central Government. He has been an additional secretary in the Union Ministry of Commerce, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Coal, Director in the Ministry of Shipping.

He was the Director-General of Foreign Trade from 20 October 2016 to 30 June 2017 and also took over as Director of IIFT as an additional charge. Today Ajay is the favourite officer of all. He was also posted in the Ministry of Coal. In fact, in 2015, he played an important role in the first coal block auction in India. He is considered a very effective officer and at the same time, he has always been considered to be skilled.
