New Delhi: Vice captain Ajinkya Rahane of the Indian Test team has expressed his desire to return to one-day cricket and said that he is ready to bat on any order according to the needs of the team. Rahane has earlier batting for the team in ODIs and middle order. But despite performing well with the bat, he was dropped from the team in 2018. Since then, he has been struggling to get a place in the team.
Rahane said, 'I have always enjoyed batting in openings (in ODIs). But if the number I get a chance to bat at number 4, then there is no problem. This is because I have enjoyed batting on both the numbers. Once you start batting at number 4, then it becomes difficult to start the innings. It is difficult to say about the order. But I think I can bat as an opener and number 4 as well.
Rahane has played 90 matches for India so far, in which he has scored a total of 2962 runs. Out of these, he has got the opportunity to bat in 87 ODIs and he has scored 3 centuries and 24 half-centuries in it. Rahane said, 'I am ready to bat on any order. I want to return to ODI. But I do not know when I will get a chance. I am mentally ready to play in all three formats.'
