Pune: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Wednesday that even after informing the Modi government of the Center several times, no team from the centre has yet arrived to review the damage caused by the floods in the state. Ajit reached Satara on the death anniversary of the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra Yashwantrao Chavan at Pritisangam in Karad.

After this, he faced the reporters, during which he said that the Central government should help the states in times of natural calamity by rising above the party and ideology. Pawar said, "When the flood situation had arisen due to heavy rains in the state, the CM, Rehabilitation Minister and the Chief Secretary had written a letter to the Center. However, no team from the Center has come here yet."

Pawar said that if such a disaster were to come during the (Congress-led) Manmohan Singh government, a team would come immediately to review the damage and a relief package was announced. He said, "Even today after so many days no team has come from the Center. States should get help from the Center because all the states are part of India." He said that in the event of a natural disaster, the Center should not discriminate on the basis of party and ideology but it is not happening.
