The craze for an update on Ajith Kumar's upcoming film Valimai has hit the India versus New Zealand Test match. A spectator at the match ? seemingly a fan of the superstar ? held up a placard with the words Valimai Update written on it during play time. A pic of the person's act has gone viral on social media.
Directed by H Vinoth, Valimai, which has been on the floors since 2019, is one of the high-profile films that have been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic as its shoot schedules went haywire due to the lockdown imposed in various countries. The team had even announced that the first look of the film will be released on May 1, the actor's birthday, but had called off their plan, respecting the "financial loss and emotional trauma" that people in the country were dealing with during the severe second wave of the pandemic.

This is the latest instance of 'fans' asking for an update on the film at prominent events. Previously, some persons have asked for #ValimaiUpdate during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Chennai, at former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami's campaign trail.
Ajith requesting people to maintain decency on the internet and in public. "In the last few days, few people claiming to be my fans have been asking for Valimai update in cricket stadiums, political events and other public venues, I am deeply disappointed with this behaviour. As announced earlier updates about the film will come when the time is right. I am in talks with the producers to announce the updates. Please be patient until then. Cinema is entertainment for you, but it?s a profession for me. I request my fans to be patient and conduct themselves decently in public domain. I hope people who love me will behave accordingly," the actor had written.
