Filmmaker Vijaya Prasad's third venture seems long impending as his most recent release came way back in 2016 in the form of 'Neer Dose'. Through his previous two films, Vijaya Prasad has managed to create his own brand of filmmaking and this very quintessential style has rubbed off quite well on the Kannada cinema audience which now keenly looks forward to more such films from his end.
'Petromax' is a special film for the director who managed to wrap up the production within 37 days despite all the restrictions that came into effect in 2020. "The petromax lamp has fascinated me ever since I was a child. Be it the way you turn on the instrument or the queer kind of light that's emitted out of it, I have always been curious about it. I think that curiosity has somehow manifested itself as a story. 'Petromax', the film, is a story of four orphans who find love and affection in an older woman who is an orphan in her own way. The film has my quintessential elements but it's a completely different story and a new set of characters." adds Vijaya Prasad.
In the same vein, Prasad also made up for some of the lost time by working simultaneously on 'Totapuri' which is almost ready to be released. The film has been made in two parts and along with Jaggesh, the principal cast comprises Aditi Prabhudeva, Dhananjaya, and Suman Ranganathan. "We are planning on releasing the first part of 'Totapuri' before 'Petromax' and then probably release the part 2 ." Vijaya Prasad says.
