Amritsar: An FIR has been registered against Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia in Mohali in Punjab. Sources said the FIR has been registered against Bikram Majithia over old drug cases. SAD leaders have alleged that a case has been registered against Majithia under pressure from Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab CM Charanjeet Singh Channi.

In fact, SAD had been alleging for the past several days that the Punjab government had been constantly pressurising punjab police officials to register cases against Bikram Singh Majithia and other Akali leaders. The Akali Dal leaders were constantly holding press conferences fearing that an FIR could be lodged against senior leaders of their party. However, it is yet to be ascertained under which sections a case has been registered against Bikram Majithia.

SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal had accused the Punjab government of pressurising police officials to file false cases against CM Charanjeet Singh Channi, deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and state Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu against him and his senior party leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
