Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav is on a tour of western UP. During this time, he alleged that BJP leaders are spreading the coronavirus by distributing election pamphlets. Akhilesh Yadav said this during a joint press conference with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) national president Jayant Chaudhary in Muzaffarnagar on Friday.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, in response to a question on the restrictions imposed by the Election Commission to contain the spread of coronavirus, said, "BJP people are also distributing forms, then they are distributing them for the spread of corona. The Election Commission should completely stop people who have forgotten how corona spreads." In fact, Akhilesh Yadav's remarks were made in connection with a video showing Union Home Minister Amit Shah using spit while picking up pamphlets to give them to people during his door-to-door campaign in UP's Gautam Budh Nagar district. A video of the incident was shared by retired IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh on Twitter.
Akhilesh Yadav said during the press conference that the SP-RLD alliance is aimed at ending "negative politics" in the state. When asked about BJP's claims about the exodus of Hindus from Kairana, Akhilesh Yadav said, "There will be a political exodus of BJP from Uttar Pradesh in this election."
