Akshaye Khanna will play Sanjaya Baru in Anupam Kher's 'The Accidental Prime Minister'

Akshaye Khanna after maintaining a long break from Bollywood cinemas going to appear in 'The Accidental Prime Minister'.  Akshaye Khanna was last seen in a special appearance as the main villain in Rohit Dhawan's Dishoom. 

After Dishoom, in an interview to BollywoodLife, Akshaye mentioned how he is taking baby steps. He had said, "One has to understand that in any business, you have to earn your stripes. You cannot become the captain of a ship on the first day of work. You have to work your way up to that level, that comes with time. Similarly, in any profession you cannot demand success, you cannot demand respect…you have to earn it." 

Not only Akshay Khanna but Anupam Kher also going to see in the lead role in this film. Anupam Kher will play the role of former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. On the other side, Akshaye Khanna has been selected to play Sanjaya Baru. 

For those unaware, Sanjaya Baru was the media advisor and chief spokesperson of then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, who courted controversy when he wrote the memoir, The Accidental Prime Minister.

Actor Arjun Mathur will be seen playing the character of Rahul Gandhi in the film. Titled after the book - The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making And Unmaking of Manmohan Singh - the film is being directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, produced by Sunil Bohra of Bohra Bros banner.

The Accidental Prime Minister is expected to release on December 21, 2018.
