Patna: A war has broken out in Bihar on the order to relax the laws against alcoholics. Actually, the Nitish government of Bihar has abolished the provision of punishment for those who drink alcohol. However, for this, the person drinking alcohol will have to tell from which supplier he has purchased the liquor. According to Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Excise Department, the decision to give exemption to the alcoholic has been taken to control the network of liquor mafia. If a person is caught drinking alcohol, then he will be asked directly the name and address of the seller of liquor.

On receipt of the news, it will be raided at the given address. If the information is received right then he will not be punished for drinking alcohol. Let us tell you that in April 2016, the Nitish government had decided to ban liquor in Bihar. A year after the decision, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had promised the women of the state that it would have an impact. However, problems were faced in properly implementing the prohibition law.

The report was released in November last, which said that more than 50 people have lost their lives in tragedies caused by alcohol. Let us tell you that there was a lot of resentment due to the arrest of people coming from outside Bihar and raids on marriage parties. Chief Minister Nitish is making efforts to make the prohibition effective through public meetings and to equip the police personnel with resources like helicopters, drones, satellite phones, motorboats.
