NEW DELHI: After the Lok Sabha, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member Maulana K R Firangi Mahali has held the opposition responsible for the passage of three divorce bills in the Rajya Sabha. Mahli said that the parties which were not present in the House during the division of votes are responsible for this. If you are not present in the House even on such an occasion, what is the meaning of your being an MP? AIMPLB has been against three divorce bills.

The Upper House on Tuesday passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Marriage Rights) Bill, the triple divorce bill, by 99 votes against 84 votes. The Lok Sabha has already done it. The bill provides for imprisonment up to three years for the husband concerned if convicted of triple talaq offenses. On the other hand, MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi expressed hope that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board will challenge the legality of the bill.

Owaisi tweeted a series of tweets after the triple divorce bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha. In a tweet, Owaisi said, "I hope the Personal Law Board will challenge the legality of this Bill in the fight to protect the diversity and diversity of the Constitution of India. The laws do not improve society. If that were the case, sexual exploitation, child abuse, dowry torture would have become history."
