Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court has expressed displeasure over the apathy of the government departments in making the Ganga pollution free in Uttar Pradesh. Along with this, the court has said that it seems that the entire project of the National Mission for Clean Ganga is going to throw dust in the eyes. This oral remark was made by a full bench of High Court Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta and Justice Ajit Kumar while hearing public interest litigation filed regarding Ganga pollution on Wednesday.

The court reprimanded the Central Pollution Control Board and the State Pollution Control Board for the smudges of the report of the investigation conducted on the pollution level in the Ganga. At the same time, the Central and State Pollution Control Boards were criticized for not submitting the pollution reports of IIT Kanpur and BHU. The court had earlier questioned the director of the National Mission for Clean Ganga as to the total amount spent so far under the Namami Gange scheme.

During the hearing on Wednesday, no information could be given by the director in the court. Along with this, all the other departments from whom the information was sought, all of them sought time to provide the information. On this, the court said that no one is serious about cleaning the Ganga. There is no information available with the departments. The court also expressed surprise that the Jal Nigam does not have an environment specialist.
