Chennai: Schools and Colleges in the Tamil Nadu districts of Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Thanjavur have been closed as a result of severe rains, officials said on Thursday.
Due to the predicted severe rainfall in the area, the administration of four districts in Tamil Nadu announced today that all educational institutions, including schools and colleges, would be closed.
According to the India Meteorological Department, isolated locations in the Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts are likely to see heavy to extremely heavy rain. The Theni, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Thoothukudi, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu are all anticipated to have isolated areas of heavy rain.
The southern half of the state and its interior districts receive considerable rainfall as a result of cyclonic circulation that is over South Tamil Nadu and a trough that extends from it. In several locations, there will likely be mild to moderate rainfall over the next four days over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, according to the Chennai Regional Met department's forecast from yesterday.
On September 2, the state's Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, and Tiruchirapalli districts are anticipated to have isolated areas of heavy rain.
