London: UK has said on Tuesday that after the removal of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, there should be a 'thorough, quick and transparent' investigation into any allegations of human rights violations in Kashmir. Britain's Foreign Minister Dominic Raab has said this to MPs in the 'House of Commons' in the first session of Parliament after a long summer vacation.

He said that, on 7 August, he had a conversation with the Foreign Minister of India, S Jaishankar. In the conversation, he had expressed concern and Britain will carefully monitor the situation in Kashmir. He was answering oral questions and during this time many questions related to Kashmir issue were also asked.

Raising his point further, Raab said that he had raised the issue of detention, possible misconduct and communication stagnation with the Indian Foreign Minister. It was clarified by the Government of India that they are only temporary and are in dire need. He said that allegations of human rights violations are worrying and should be investigated thoroughly and promptly. India has clearly told the international community that abolishing Article 370 is its internal issue. But he insisted that human rights concerns made it an international issue.
