Prayagraj: In the recent news, the special court has framed charges against BSP MP Atul Rai under sections of rape, cheating, insulting, threatening to kill and IT Act. The court rejected the plea of Atul Rai on Thursday. The special court judge Dr. Balmukund is hearing the case.

According to the information received from sources, the case is related to the Varanasi Lanka police station. It is alleged that MP Atul Rai called the victim and raped her in his flat in Chittipur on 7 March 2018 under the pretext of introducing him to his wife. It is also alleged that Atul Rai also made a pornographic video and blackmailed the victim by threatening to make it public. The MP also threatened to kill the victim.

The special court has completed the hearing on the application of MP Atul Rai and has fixed the date for Saturday. Where Atul Rai petitioned the court and demanded that he be sent to take the oath of Parliament on parole in police custody. Special Public Prosecutor Virendra Singh and ADGC Rajesh Gupta and victim advocate Pramod Singh Neeraj have opposed the application.
