Melbourne: A fierce fire in the jungles of Australia's eastern region has threatened the country's largest city Sydney. The fire, which took place in the 50 km north side of Sydney, is now taking a violent form. Smoke and ash particles emanating from the fire have clouded the sky of Sydney, the capital of the province of New South Wales, and the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that people are now having to resort to masks.

People are forced to leave the house by putting on masks. All sports events held over the weekend in the city have been postponed. According to the fire department, fires have caused havoc in the Hawkesbury, Hunder and Central Coast areas near Sydney. The fire has taken such a terrible form that now it is facing difficulties in getting control over it. Incidents of forest fires started last month. Four people have lost their lives so far and about 700 houses have been burnt to ashes. Not only this, but many people are also being reported missing.

A media report was quoted as saying by Australian PM Scott Morrison that the Army is engaged in extinguishing the fire, but is not getting the desired success. According to the BBC report, strong winds and rising temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius have further fueled the fire.
