New Delhi:  In preparation for the monsoon session of Parliament, the government has scheduled an all-party meeting on Wednesday afternoon. This meeting aims to ensure the smooth functioning of the session, which commences on Thursday. During the meeting, the opposition parties will inform the government about the issues they plan to raise, while the government has already prepared its legislative agenda.

Running from Thursday until August 11, the monsoon session of Parliament will comprise a total of 17 sittings. To foster productive discussions on legislative matters and other topics, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has appealed to all parties to actively contribute.

It is worth noting that the old Parliament building will serve as the venue for the Monsoon session. In related news, opposition parties recently gathered in Bengaluru for a unity meeting. During the two-day event, attended by leaders from 26 opposition parties, they decided to form a coalition called the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA). This meeting followed a previous one held in Patna.

Additionally, the National Democratic Alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized its own meeting, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered an address. One significant agenda item expected to be discussed during the monsoon session is the bill aimed at replacing the ordinance governing services in Delhi. Moreover, the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Bill 2023, which received Cabinet approval earlier this month, is anticipated to be introduced.

Ahead of the session, the Congress party conducted Parliamentary Strategy Group meetings to strategize its approach. Jairam Ramesh, a prominent party leader, stated that they intend to raise various issues, including the Manipur situation, attacks on the federal structure by the Central government through Governors, the Balasore train tragedy, bringing the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), and inflation.
