Terror threat: Amarnath Yatra concludes 14 days ago, devotees returning home with heavy heart

Srinagar: Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir has been stopped prematurely in the wake of the terror attack. In an advisory issued by the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday, amarnath pilgrims and tourists have been instructed to leave the Kashmir valley as soon as possible. Though the Amarnath Yatra was scheduled to conclude on August 15, but it has already been stopped 14 days ago.

A total of 3.43 lakh devotees have visited Baba Bhandari during the Amarnath Yatra which began on 1st July till 2nd August. With an advisory issued by the administration on Friday, 704 devotees visited Baba Bhandari. Now Amarnath Yatris are returning to their homes from the Valley due to the administration's advisory. It may be mentioned that Indian security forces have recovered a landmine and a US sniper rifle from Pakistan near Amarnath Yatra route.

A secret stock pile of explosives along with binoculars and IEDs have also been recovered. Senior military officials said in a briefing on Friday that the ammunition was recovered in a massive search operation on amarnath yatra route.
