Pune: Saffron is cultivated only in cold states. The climate of the plains is not considered suitable for this. However, it has been proved wrong by a software engineer from Pune. Software engineer Shailesh Modak has done the feat of cultivating saffron without soil.

Shailesh is growing saffron in shipping containers with the help of hydroponic technology. Earlier he did this test with a strawberry crop. After the test was completely successful, Shailesh adopted the same technique for the cultivation of saffron. Today, he is earning millions of profits from saffron cultivation. Shailesh said that he had once invested Rs 10 lakh for its cultivation. He has earned Rs 5 lakh from the first crop. Shailesh had ordered saffron seeds to Kashmir. It is cultivated in 160 square feet through shipping containers.

Shailesh has a master's degree in computer science. He has worked as a software engineer with many multinational companies. Hydroponic technology also reduces the cost of farming as compared to other methods of farming. It is cultivated only in sand and pebbles with water or water. Climate does not have a special role in the growth of plants to cultivate in this way. You do not even need much space for farming in this way. By cultivating with this technique, you can cultivate many such plants, which are grown only abroad.
