SAN FRANCISCO: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Inc., a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., has launched the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) region.

AWS also released an economic impact study (EIS), indicating that the company's spending on the construction and operation of the new AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) region will result in the creation of 24,700 direct and indirect employment, as well as a USD 5 billion investment in the local economy.

According to the corporation, the region would contribute $10.9 billion to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the next 15 years. "The cloud allows organisations of all types and sizes-- from enterprises to educational institutions to government agencies--to revolutionise their operations and reinvent experiences for their customers and end users," said AWS Vice President of Infrastructure Services Prasad Kalyanaraman.

"Indonesian businesses may now take use of the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) region to save costs, improve agility, and accelerate innovation." AWS now offers 84 availability zones over 26 geographic locations, with plans to create 24 more availability zones and eight more AWS regions in Australia, Canada, India, Israel, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates.
