Washington: So far only humans were being vaccinated to avoid corona infection, but now animals are being vaccinated. Indeed, animals in a US zoo are being vaccinated to protect them from corona. Animals are being given corona vaccine doses at auckland zoo (Oakland Zoo) in bay area of San Francisco, USA. Bears and tigers are currently being vaccinated against corona.

According to the information received, Tiger Ginger and Moly are the first two animals got the vaccine.  The animal vaccine has been made by New Jersey-based Animal Health Company Zoetis. Auckland Zoo tweeted that 11,000 doses have been donated by Zoetis to vaccinate animals. The vaccine will be sent to about 70 zoos in 27 states. Initially tigers, bears, grizzly beers, mountain lions and farets will be vaccinated. Mahesh Kumar, senior vice president of Zoetis, said that last year when a pet dog was found corona positive in Hong Kong, the company started working on a vaccine that could be given to pets.

He explained that after the Hong Kong case came to light, work on the vaccine was started and within 8 months, the first study was conducted, which was presented to the World Health Organization (WHO). However, pets no longer require the vaccine. So this vaccine is being applied to zoo animals to protect them from corona infection.
