Washington: The US has once again refused to lift restrictions on export of raw materials used in covid vaccine manufacturing in India. A US State Ministry spokesperson said, "We will give priority to our citizens before fulfilling India's request. He also said that we have a special responsibility towards the American people. Despite appeals for help amid the rising corona tsunami in India, the international impact of denial of help may be seen.

It may be recalled that when the same US was the worst sufferer of coronavirus infection last year, India exported millions of tablets of hydroxychloroquine at the request of the then-President Donald Trump. However, the US has forgotten the old favor and refused to export raw materials to increase India's vaccine production in times of trouble.

A US State Department spokesperson said, "Of course, it is not only in our interest that the American people are vaccinated, but it is also a beneficial step for the rest of the world. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has also held several talks with his US counterpart Antony Blinken over the raw material of the vaccine. Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla along with US Deputy Secretary Wendy Sherman have also urged for removal of restrictions".
