Washington: The United States of America (USA) on Friday (December 16) once again welcomed PM Narendra Modi's stand on the Ukraine dispute, calling for an end to all forms of violence and following the path of diplomacy. During a press conference, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department Vedant Patel said, ''We accept PM Modi's word and welcome his comments. Other countries will take their own decision on engagement with Russia. We will continue to coordinate with our allies to minimize the effects of war.''
Vedant Patel made the remarks while replying to a question on India's position on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and PM Modi's call to end the war. Let us inform you that, on the occasion of the SCO Summit in Samarkand in September, PM Modi had told Russian President Vladimir Putin that 'today's era is not of war'. He also stressed on the need to find ways to solve the problems of food, fuel security, and fertilizers.
When asked about India's role in preventing the Russia-Ukraine war, the US State Department spokesperson said, 'Any country that is interested in joining the peace and working to end this (Russia-Ukraine) war' is interested in, should do so in close partnership with Ukrainian partners.' The US State Department's remarks came hours after PM Modi's telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
