Washington: A human rights group of the US Congress will hold a hearing on the situation there in Jammu and Kashmir this week after the Indian government abolished its special status. But some observers have expressed doubts over the intentions of the group, saying that the witnesses of this group have been fierce opponents of India. While announcing the hearing, Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission said that the witness will examine the human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Questioning the true intentions of the Tom Lantos Commission, Congress observers said that its co-chairs announced a hearing without notice and chose a panel that was anti-India.
