New York: US President Donald Trump has announced that he will have to postpone the Group of Seven Summit (G-7 Summit) until September or later. This annual summit was going to be held in the US during June 10-12 this year. But currently it has been postponed till September. The White House said that it would be hosted through a video conference in view of the coronavirus infection.

Trump said- 'I am postponing the G-7 Summit because I do not think that the G-7 is able to accurately reflect what is going on in the world.' He also said that he is further increasing the list of invitees and he has also included Australia, Russia, South Korea and India in the list. The members who are in the original list of invitees are the most advanced economies in the world. However, according to the current format, the US President feels that the group of countries in this list is quite old.

The intention to expand the guest list for this meeting has been made clear, although it is still unclear whether these changes will be permanent or not. White House spokeswoman Alyssa Farah said that the president wants the countries to discuss China at the summit. Donald Trump had suggested hosting a personal G-7 summit instead of video conferencing, as critics believe it would have given him an opportunity to show how the US has controlled the epidemic.
