In the crisis of Corona virus epidemic, the US has indicated to send 161 Indian citizens back to India this week. Most of them illegally entered the country from the southern border of Mexico. He will be taken to Amritsar in Punjab in a special aircraft. North American Punjabi Union (NAPA) Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal K said that the maximum number of 76 people are from Haryana.

This is followed by 56 persons from Punjab, 12 from Gujarat, five from Uttar Pradesh, four from Maharashtra, two each from Kerala, Telangana and Tamil Nadu and one each from Andhra Pradesh and Goa. With this, he further said that all these people are among the 1,739 Indians lodged in 95 jails of America. These people were arrested by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE while trying to enter the US illegally. According to the ICE report, America sent 611 Indians in 2018 and 1,616 Indians back in 2019. NAPA said that out of 161 people, three are women and a 19-year-old teenager from Haryana.

Chahal, who has been working between them for years, told that there is no information about what will happen next with other Indian citizens who are lodged in American jails. Most of the detained people sought asylum and claimed to have faced violence or persecution in their country. However, US judges have been rejecting his petition for the last several years.
