Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are leaving no stone unturned in promoting their movie Brahmastra. On Tuesday Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and director Ayan Mukerji reached Ujjain on Tuesday for the promotion of the film Brahmastra.  However, the actors were stopped by protestors from entering the temple in Madhya Pradesh citing Ranbir's past comment on beef but Ayan Mukherjee managed to go inside the temple.
Ayan sharing the picture of the visit wrote, “3 DAYS AWAY (from Brahmastra release)… Feel very happy and energised to have visited Mahakaleshwar Temple today… Got the most beautiful darshan… Wanted to make this visit to close the film-making journey on Brahmastra, and to get all the positive energy and blessings for our release.”
As the team reached the temple, The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists started protesting outside the temple when the duo with the team arrived at the main and conch gates of the Mahakaal temple. The Bajrang Dal workers were beaten up by the police.  The situation became worst Ranbir and Alia had to return without seeing Lord Mahakaal.  In a viral video, protesters were heard saying,  'Anti-Hindu' Alia Bhatt and 'Beef eater' Ranbir Kapoor Could not defile the Mahakal temple after the uproar by Hindu Lions. The protester were further heard saying,"We won't allow them to enter the Mahakal temple. We were only showing black flags, but police charged at us."
The protest was because of Ranbir’s old video of Ranbir doing rounds on the internet. In an interview, Ranbir said that “My family is from Peshawar, so a lot of Peshawari food has come with them. I am a mutton, paya, and beef fan. Yeah, I am a big beef fan."
