Lucknow: Holidays have been cancelled to all power officers and employees in the wake of the power crisis amid the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh. They have been instructed to be available for round the clock service. State Power Minister A K Sharma has admitted that there is some problem with power due to some reasons but added that he is committed to a better power supply and the situation will be handled soon.
Power Minister A K Sharma said that the demand for electricity has increased by about one-and-a-half times due to severe heatwaves in the state. If you look at the average of the last three-four years, there was a demand of 17-18 thousand MW of power, which has now increased to 22 thousand MW. We're in a bit of trouble for two or three reasons. The first reason for this is that many of our plants, which were thermal power stations, from where the power generation used to take place, got some glitches due to technical reasons.
Releasing his statement, the Power Minister said that there was a problem of leakage in the boiler. It's the end of the week. Saturday, and Sunday holidays are again eid holidays. We have appealed to our officers and employees not to celebrate leave this time. Be stationed round the clock at your place of duty. At the same time, CM Yogi has ordered that, in every case, electricity should be given to all the areas according to the schedule. If you need to buy electricity from outside, buy it immediately. Power generation stations should get coal from time to time, try continuously for this also.
