New Delhi: Describing the funding of terrorism as a bigger threat than terrorism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday (November 18) that it should not be linked to any religion, nationality, or group. Addressing the third ministerial conference on anti-terrorist funding on the theme 'No Money For Terror' at Hotel Taj Palace in the national capital Delhi, Amit Shah said that giving protection to terrorists promotes terrorism. It is the collective responsibility of all the countries that such elements and such countries should never succeed in their nefarious designs.
Amit Shah also said that terrorists are constantly looking for new ways to perpetrate violence, radicalize youth and raise financial resources, and spread radicalized material using tools of cybercrime and concealing their identity. The Home Minister said, 'Terrorism is the most serious threat to global peace and security. However, I believe that the funding of terrorism is more dangerous than terrorism because this type of funding feeds the means and methods of terrorism.' Apart from this, the funding of terrorism weakens the economy of countries around the world.
Amit Shah further said, 'Terrorists are using the dark net to hide their identity and spread radical material. To prevent this, we have to work towards a joint strong operational system. Today narco terror has become a major source of terror funding. We have to make joint efforts to destroy it. To achieve the target of “No Money for Terror” (NMFT), the principle of “One mind – One Approach” has to be adopted.'
