New Delhi: At the time when the Supreme Court was pronouncing its verdict on the Ayodhya case, the Home Minister Amit Shah, while taking command himself, was talking to all the Chief Ministers and appealed to maintain peace in their states. At the same time, the Special Secretary for Internal Security Affairs in the Ministry of Home Affairs also held discussions with the Directors General of Police (DGP) of all the states and union territories.

On Saturday, all the joint secretaries, including Home Secretary to Director of Intelligence Bureau, were present in the Ministry of Home Affairs in North Block. Ministry officials were collecting information about law and order from every region of the country and were giving direct information to the Home Minister. Sources in the Home Ministry said that most of the Chief Ministers assured Amit Shah to keep the security system intact. Along with this, the Chief Ministers have also given the details of the steps taken to maintain peace in the state.

Sources said the ministry has also asked paramilitary forces BSF, CRPF, ITBP and SSB to be prepared for any situation. Also, the Intelligence Bureau has also been asked to report directly to the Home Secretary regarding all the security related inputs. A day before the decision, the Home Minister held a high-level meeting with high officials including NSA Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar.
